The perfect travel companions: in the VI century paintings we can find the ancient use of tsutsumi, the “cloth packages” that used to wrap travelers’ clothes and food. In the Edo era (1603 - 1868) the wraps changed their name to furoshiki, used among spa-goers to protect their clothes. However, they have become popular thanks to the merchants, who used them to transport their goods around the world: precious food and rare merchandise.

Why am I sustainable?

Organic cotton is a sustainable material because it is grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs), which helps preserve soil health, biodiversity, and water quality. Organic farming practices prioritize natural processes, such as crop rotation and composting, to maintain soil fertility and reduce the need for chemical inputs. This also protects farmers and nearby communities from harmful chemical exposure. Organic cotton typically requires less water compared to conventional cotton because organic soils retain moisture better, and the use of rain-fed irrigation is more common. Moreover, organic cotton supports fair trade and ethical labor practices, ensuring better working conditions and livelihoods for farmers. By choosing organic cotton, we can reduce environmental harm and promote a more sustainable textile industry.
